Lou Holtz is once again on my easel, this time a portrait of him receiving The Presidential Medal of Freedom, which is the highest civilian honor in the United States. It was established in 1963 by President John F. Kennedy, succeeding the earlier Medal of Freedom created by President Harry S. Truman in 1945. This award recognizes individuals who have made significant contributions to the security or national interests of the U.S., world peace, or cultural and other significant public or private endeavors.
