The winter landscape at Notre Dame has always inspired me.
In this first large painting I wanted to capture that gray, flat light when it is snowing, how the flatness of the horizon reminds me of the ocean, and contrasting all of those cold winter colors with the golden warmth of the dome. And please note that the golden dome and statue of Mary is painted with 24k gold dust removed from the golden dome.
