I based this painting on a sketch I did sitting in Palisades Park-looking down on the Jonathon Club and PCH. It’s a cold(for Santa Monica!),windy Winter day. I was most interested in trying to capture the way the blowing sand is skimming across the beach.
A bit of the roof of the Jonathan club is cropped in the lower right corner. Love the Jonathan club’s art collection in the Downtown Los Angeles club. Lots of early California Impressionism.
